Fairtrade
The Fairtrade Mark, which is awarded by the Fairtrade
Foundation to products which meet international
Fairtrade standards, is an independent consumer label
which guarantees a better deal for producers in developing
countries, ensuring that farmers receive a fair price and
workers a fair wage with an additional premium to invest
in community development. The chain is strong; local
communities benefit from the greater economic security,
improved health services and education programmes that
Fairtrade can bring. Fairtradc is an alternative approach to
conventional international trade.
|
|
It is a trading partnership which aims at sustainable development for excluded
and disadvantaged producers.
It seeks to do this by providing better trading conditions, increasing the
Fairtrade market by raising awareness and by campaigning.
